Students in Raven Bishop & Dr. Sara DeReza's Making History: Making Museums Orientation Explore program collaborated with the Kent Museum to begin digitizing & interpreting objects in the museum's collection. The digitized objects and student writing were added to the museum's in-development virtual tour. The museum's collection represents the rural heritage of agriculture and domestic life in Kent County.
In order to understand Kent County's local history in the context of United States history students visited the Smithsonian Museum of American History. There, students observed overlaps between Kent Museum's collection and objects on display in the American History Museum.
Throughout the three-day program students had the opportunity to engage in real-world, hands-on learning which makes a real impact within and beyond our community. Stay tuned for updates on this year's collaboration!
