Our Vision
Over the course of several semesters we aim to partner with as many local museums as possible to promote a synergistic and mutually beneficial collaboration between our students, local museums, local public schools and local communities.
By developing community partnerships to create authentic learning experiences, students have the opportunity to lead through learning by developing real-world projects with real, lasting impact that extends far beyond the college classroom.
Washington College Students gain experience using 21st century museum technologies such as AR/VR design, photogrammetry, and end-user scanning & digital collections management. They then put these skills to use by helping local museums craft digital resources and begin the process of digital preservation. Through this process students gain real-world experience in the museums & special collections field.
Local Museums gain assistance in digitizing collections as well as creating digital outreach resources which allows the museum to share its collection with the world in new and exciting ways.
Kent County Public Schools gain exciting new resources for instruction by leveraging the digital outreach resources created through the partnership between Washington College students and local museums. KCPS supports teacher teams to write units of study that address state standards through the study of local history.
Kent County Tourism gains new resources to promote county museums and travel destinations to the local community and wider world.
